Hiddenbrook vs Hamlet

Hello Swim Families!

In preparation for our upcoming away meet against Hamlet (HSC), please see below for all relevant details.

Volunteers: Please sign up by Friday at noon. (all jobs are filled, well done team)

Per NVSL standards, all officials should wear a white top and navy bottoms

(Ref, Stroke & Turn, Starter, Timers, Relay Take off, Marshal)

Pool Rundown:

Address: 8209 Dunsinane Court, McLean, VA 22102

It’s just north of Tyson’s Corner near the intersection where the toll road and route 7 converge

They have one most unique mascot names in the whole league, they are the “Hamlet Green Feet

It's a great pool, we had All Star Relay’s there a few years back.

It's also the former stomping ground of Hiddenbrook’s own Marcel van Vierssen

The pool is a standard Z shape pool like ours but has 8 lanes, it also has a clubhouse/deck that overlooks the pool so table workers will be in the AC.

Arrival times:

  1. The meet begins at 9am. Hiddenbrook will warm up second from 8:20 to 8.45am. Please make sure your swimmer arrives 20 minutes prior to warm-ups, 8:00am, so they are ready to go.
  2. Officials (Ref, Starter, Stroke and Turn judges, Timers, Head Timer, Clerks of Course) should arrive on deck at no later than 8:15 for briefings. Swim Marshals, please arrive prior to 7:50 am, as all Marshals must be in place prior to Hamlet warming up.

Parking:

On the day of the meet, they reserve 5 spots in the parking lot,(2 team reps, 2 coaches and 1 data coordinator) Hamlet reserves its main parking lot exclusively for Hiddenbrook families. In order to allow safe access to and from our pool through the narrow neighborhood roads, parking on the right side of the road leading to the pool is prohibited (Dunsinane Court). They will designate that side of the road with orange cones. A parking map is attached. It is a very short walk from Spring Hill Elementary too.

Team Areas:

  1. See Diagram
  2. Please bring goggles, sunscreen, swim cap, a foldable chair, towel, bathing suit, bottle of water, snacks, enthusiasm, and the other normal necessities of a meet.

Spectators:

See attached image, They have plenty of spectator seating , but your swimmers and families are welcome to bring their own chairs if they choose to.

I am to remind the team that: No noisemakers (trumpets, drums, cymbals, horns, etc.) are allowed at their pool. This is in consideration of their residential neighbors and is part of their operating license. (they are a former division 1 team, so I suspect they might have some trauma from those years)

Attached is the meet sheet with times.

Make sure your swimmers get plenty of rest and arrive Saturday ready to swim fast. Bob and Marcel have already crunched the swim times. Despite the number of kids that we are missing, we match up well with Hamlet, if all times hold, we would have a tiny lead going into relays. (But that is why we swim the meet!)

If you have any additional questions, just write me back and I will be happy to assist.
