Time Trials
What is the purpose of time trials?
- To establish a base benchmark time for your child
- To establish a team ladder that we use to make the A meet entries
Question and Answer
Who should participate? The whole team. All swimmers expected to be there. Please go to swimtopia and let us know your athlete’s availability. Marcel needs to make the timing sheets and the earlier you let him know your status the less crazy his Friday night will be. I hate to see him when he is frazzled and blaspheming families who have let him down.
Should Waterspouts participate? Only if they can confidently get across the pool. Please write Marcel and email if you are waterspout considering this because you do not have the ability to sign up in swimtopia. [email protected]
What if my kid has a game / conflict on Saturday? There is a B-Meet on Monday, sign up for two events there. After practice on Tuesday 6/10, we are having a small little chance to get times. Swim your other two events there. Let Coach Meghan know if you are doing this.
How does my kid get in the A-meet? Every week the team data coordinator will release a Hiddenbrook team ladder. This will update every week. If your kid has one of the top three fastest times in any stroke they will automatically make the meet. Many other kids make the meet too. Absences and swimmers being limited to a maximum of two events allows us more entries. There have been meets where we have used 10th fastest swimmer in a stroke. The meet sheet will come out Wednesday night around 11pm.(That is night that Meghan, Neal, Marc, Todd, and Bob put this thing together)
What can I do to help? Go swimtopia and find the time trials volunteer signup. Do a job at time trials on Saturday. There will be stiff competition to dethrone Jennifer and Jay Lawrence, last year's volunteer champions! There are still a number of open jobs. If there are still opening jobs on Friday evening, Sarah Boyle will be calling her cousin Tony to come make you an offer you can’t refuse!
