NVSL Rule Change

From Neal Jarvis, our Team Representative:

Folks, there was a major NVSL rule change. The NVSL follows most USA Swimming rules. The USA Swimming rule for false starts has long been controversial. Under the current rules, a swimmer who false started before the race began was disqualified, and walked off the deck in front of both teams and spectators. It is known by the moniker, “the walk of shame.”

In a 76-20-5 vote, the Team Reps voted to change this rule. There will no longer be the walking of a DQed swimmer off the deck. Instead, if a false start is observed, the swimmer will be allowed to to swim, the DQ slip will be given to the team reps after the race has concluded.
