What a week:
It was a very busy Hiddenbrook week. We started the week with a B meet at Fox Mill Estates followed by Herndon Olympics on Tuesday. Per tradition, it was excessively hot but to our knowledge everyone survived. There were some great swims, a few Herndon Olympics records set, and for the second year in a row, Hiddenbrook swept the relay events. Congratulations to all our swimmers. Also, thank you to all the parents who volunteered. An event like Herndon Olympics can’t happen without lots of volunteers and as usual Hiddenbrook stepped up.
All Star Relays was Wednesday with Hiddenbrook sending (8) relays. The event was cut short due to weather but Hiddenbrook finished a very impressive 14th overall.
Quote of the week:
“I can’t believe you faked an injury to get out of doing the coaches relay”
-Overheard at Herndon Olympics from one Four Seasons coach to another:
Quote of the day:
“wait!?!? that was this week… that feels like three weeks ago!”
-coach John on being reminded that Herndon Olympics was earlier this week.
Honorable Mention:
“Herndon Olympics was the hottest swim meet I’d ever been to, and then I went to All Star relays the next day which was even hotter."
-Neal Jarvis
Corollary:
“Who’s that purple dude over there?” “Oh my gosh, that’s Neal”.
-asked by a Four Seasons swimmer to a Hiddenbrook swimmer at Herndon Olympics
Upcoming:
Monday: B meet at HOME vs Herndon Rec. There are a number of waterspouts who have been called up from AA to AAA and are swimming.
Thursday: Deserts and paper plates
See the sign up that goes out, the coaches only make paper plates for those swimmers who attend.
Also, once regular paper plates conclude, and the children are sent to the pool, Jenn King will lead the “Paper Plates after Dark” section of the evening. Adults on this team who have distinguished themselves in not so flattering ways will get recognized for their efforts.
Friday: Waterspout Lollipop meet
Saturday: Divisionals and swim team banquet
-Neal and Marc
