The Legendary Vienna Woods - The Woods are Alive!
The pool. Vienna Woods is a 50 meter by 25 meter L shaped pool. We will swim across the deep end in the 25 meter portion. Much like Lee Graham, the diving boards are in the way. Since the pool is deep on one side, it is known to be an especially quick facility.
Parking
Pay attention because this pool is tricky. They have two parking lots and they have different entrances.(one for our team, one for their team) They won’t let you in the VW parking lot. If you GPS Vienna Woods Pool, it will take you to the wrong parking lot.
From Vienna Woods…
The main entrance to Vienna Woods is located on Harmony Drive in Vienna. However, they have a lower lot off of Kingsley Road by their tennis courts that will be reserved for the Hiddenbrook team and families. Directions below. The lower lot provides more convenient access to the pool deck for setup. There is a gate by the lower parking lot that opens directly to the pool area.

Arrival times:
1.Please arrive by 8:05am. The meet begins at 9am. Hiddenbrook will warm up second from 8:25 to 8.45am.
2.Officials (Ref, Starter, Stroke and Turn judges, Timers, Head Timer, Clerks of Course…) should arrive on deck at no later than 8:25. They will begin briefings at 8:30. Swim Marshals, please arrive prior to 8am, as all Marshals must be in place prior to warm-ups.
Odds and Ends:
- The team area is adjacent to the big blue slide across the pool from the diving boards. There is access to the deck from that area. It is generally shady in the morning but we will bring tents. There are plenty of chairs for your swimmers to use in the team area. There is a lot of space in the team area and they should be able to accommodate the whole team and spectators.
- Table workers and data entry will be under tents behind the diving boards.
- One special note about relays: due to the location of the ladder for our high dive, they shift lanes 3 and 4 over by one lane for the relay swims in order to give the swimmers (and officials) more space at the turn end of the pool. The lane number signs are moved during the relay warmup break to prevent confusion.
- As this is their last home meet of the season, they will be honoring their seniors AFTER the meet. Typically they do this after individual events and before relays but agreed to move it to the end of the meet because they have 9 seniors this year.
- Please bring goggles, sunscreen, swim cap, towel, bathing suit, bottle of water, snacks, enthusiasm, and the other normal necessities of a meet.
- The snack bar takes cash and credit, their reps told me and I quote “The breakfast sandwiches are legendary” I can attest from last year, they are tremendous
Spectators:
Feel free to bring your own chairs if you don't like pool furniture
Make sure your swimmers get plenty of rest and arrive Saturday ready to swim fast. If you have any additional questions, just write back and we will be happy to assist.
Cheers,
Neal and Marc
