A special shout out
The swim gods threw us a curveball and blew up our pump room on a Friday night..
We had to reschedule a swim meet in 1.5 hours. The amount of parent support that came together was amazing, and was instrumental in why we won.
People came with trucks and vans to the pool to make sure all of our equipment got to the pool. (Canopies, water, drinks, all of it had to be taken to Lee Graham) Other parents took the time to make sure every single family got a call letting them know the meet had been shifted. Other people were up on the team FB and team email to broadcast announcements. Had any one of these pieces failed it is unlikely that we would have had the same success today.
The 10 races where kids stepped up and improved their seed to score
As seeded we would have been down 16 going into relays instead we were down by only 4

P.S. These are coach Jon’s wrap up remarks he put on Facebook
Congratulations to all the Hiddenbrook swimmers on a thrilling victory today against Lee Graham, who graciously hosted the meet this morning on short notice. For the first time anyone can remember, the meet came down to the last race, the Mixed Age Girls Relay, which our team of Emma Detrick, Mollie Boyle, Spencer Leveto, and Ariel Indrisano won by 1.9 seconds. The decibel level was insane as both teams and all the fans were cheering their hearts out!
Congratulations also to our record-breaking 13-14 Boys Medley Relay team of Theo Pozo, Nolan Culligan, Daniel King, and Preston LaForme, which put down a time of 57.04.
Also setting a new team record was our 15-18 Boys Medley Relay team of Noah Dyer, Danny Saunders, Mason Leveto, and Tyler Detrick, which broke the old record by almost a full second, with a time of 1:52.57.
The meet was up and down for most of the morning, but we pulled ourselves back into the mix with a strong showing in butterfly, where we outscored Lee Graham by over 20 points. That set us up for relays, where we needed to win 7 to win the meet, and we ended up winning exactly 7! Goooooooooo Hurricanes!
