The Week In Review (and what a
week it was!) Fox Mill Woods, "Neon
Night" The team got the week started with outstanding swimming
against FMW on Monday night at home. A total of six Waterspouts swam in
a meet for the first time, and roughly 60 personal bests were set! Herndon Olympics, "Hometown
Pride" Hiddenbrook flexed its muscles on Tuesday in a day-long
match-up against all the other local Herndon teams. In an unprecedented
show of strength, the team set THREE new Herndon Olympics records. As
the meet is held only once a year, this is quite an accomplishment. 15-18 Boys 50 Backstroke:
Noah Dyer demolished the old record by almost a full second, swimming a
time of 25.98 15-18 Boys 50 Meter Butterfly:
In arguably the showdown of the meet, Noah Dyer defeated Herndon Rec's
Rian Graham 25.54 to 25.59 for his second record of the day 8&U Girls 25 Meter Butterfly:
Mollie Boyle swam an outstanding race to set a new HO record with a
time of 20.87 And, in an extremely exciting race, our 15-18 Boys
Medley Relay (Noah Dyer, Caleb Detrick, Drew Yost, Tommy
Schwaninger) edged out our crosstown rivals, Herndon Rec, winning with
a time of 1:57.88, a mere .06 ahead of the Hammerheads. The victory helped
Hiddenbrook finish the meet by incredibly winning all 12 relays that
were contested! All-Star Relay Carnival,
"The Splash and Dash" The team sent eight relays to All-Stars this year, an
impressive number for any team. Everyone swam well, and one more record
fell, with the 11-12 Boys Free Relay (Hudson Rita, Preston LaForme,
Nolan Culligan, Daniel King) lowering their own record with a time of
57.14 seconds. Overall, Hiddenbrook scored 174 points, the most the
team has ever recorded at All-Star Relays! Brandywine, "The
Clincher" To conclude this crazy week, the team finally swam an
away meet against Brandywine, which was in Division 5 with us last year
as well. With an emphatic 251-168 victory, Hiddenbrook finished the
season with a 4-1 record, and as DIVISION
5 CO-CHAMPIONS!! This is our first division title since
2017, and we will receive our trophy at the Divisionals meet next
Saturday. I cannot emphasize enough how big an accomplishment this is;
everyone on the team should be incredibly proud! Coming up in the week ahead, we have: our paper plates
ceremony Thursday night (please RSVP if you will be attending,
otherwise your children will not have paper plates made for them); our
Lollipop Meet on Friday morning, where our Waterspouts get to show off
their talents; and Divisionals on Saturday, which is the qualifying
meet for individual all-stars. Our
season-ending banquet will be Saturday night at the pool, where we will
recognize all of our accomplishments and reflect on a wonderful, and
highly successful, season. I hope to see you all there! |
